A Visit to Neudorf
Last week we visited Neudorf Winery in the Tasman region. It’s a place with real character, nothing fancy for the sake of it, just genuine care for the vines, the land, and the people. Even the dog Ernie and Baz the cat are part of the team.
The Riesling stood out straight away — dry, clean, and exactly how we like it. A Nelson wine with a German accent. A little bit like me.
But a visit like this isn’t just about the wine. It’s the conversations that stretch longer than you expect, the shared food that tastes better for being eaten slowly, the feeling of being welcomed into something genuine. It’s a rhythm, not unlike a well-run kitchen or a well-kept garden — detail, discipline, and a deep connection to the place.
We left with bottles, of course, but more importantly with a sense of having been part of something carefully and beautifully made. And like any good story, it left us wanting the next chapter.
